WHY ORGANIC MANURE IN PLACE OF CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS ?

1. Decades of experience of Farmers have proved that organic manure must replace chemical fertilizers. Agriculture Research Institutes, Experts from various parts of the world are realizing the importance of Organic Manure.

2. The use of Nitrogenous fertilizers like Urea leads to profuse leafy growth which invite pests necessitating the use of poison ( insecticides ) to kill the pests. The inevitable loss in production & additional cost of pesticides is a loss to the grower & more importantly, the nature.

3. Nature has been kind to the wet tropics which has an advantage in the form of lush vegetative growth which can be converted into manure to replenish the organic matter.

4.. Organic Manure is not deficient in any nutrient. It is capable of supplying every nutrient to the extent that can be assimilated by the plants healthfully. Organic Manure can be termed as a store house consisting of a complex mixture of hundreds of different organic compounds in various combinations. It releases nutrients gradually so that all nutrients are supplied over long time in right proportions. Its compounds are subject to minimal loss by leaching. The colloidal products of decomposing organic manure have a high base exchange capacity which means the exchanged ions are not flushed our or wasted.

5. Talking of chemical fertilizers as a whole, their adverse effects are immense & in too many directions:

a. They reduce soil organic manure & soil porosity, to impede oxygen flow.

b. Reduce the water holdings capacity of the soil.

c. Obstruct natural nitrogen fixation by the soil bacteria as also the natural biological

biological control mechanism.

d. Affects the soil flora & fauna.

e. Reduce the soil resistance to extreme weather conditions.

f. Deplete the trace elements essential for healthy growth of the plant.

g. Poison the ground water & surface water in the neighborhood to which the unabsorbed

fertilizer drain.

6. Earthworm & burrowing insects were considered to be natures own fertilizing agents. The cast of Earthworms is five times richer in combined nitrogen, seven times richer in available phosphates, 11 times richer in potash in the upper 6 inches of the soil. To substantiate this loss & avoid use of nitrogenous chemical fertilizers, we recommend usage of vermicompost.
